Transgender Girl Scout Triggers Cookie Boycott Call

A California teenager is attempting to organize a boycott of Girl Scout cookies because the Scouts allowed a 7-year-old transgender member to join last year.

Why are the Girl Scouts “willing to break their own safety rules to accommodate transgender boys?” a girl who calls herself Taylor asks on a YouTube video. “I think it’s because the Girl Scouts care more about promoting the desires of a small handful of people than it does my safety,” adds the teen, who wears a scout sash in the film.

The video was posted to honestgirlscouts.com, a group that supports the Girl Scouts returning to “traditional values.”

A spokeswoman for the Girls Scouts defended the organization’s decision to allow transgender members. “For 100 years, Girl Scouts has prided itself on being an inclusive organization serving girls from all walks of life,” she told the New York Daily News. ”We handle cases involving transgender children on a case-by-case basis, with a focus on ensuring the welfare and best interests of the child in question and the other girls in the troop as our highest priority.”

Should Boys Be Allowed In Girl Scouts?

Bobby Montoya, a 7-year-old boy from Denver, has no desire to join the Boy Scouts.  Instead, he wants to be a Girl Scout.

His mother, Felisha Archuleta, spoke with 9News about the incident:  ”I said, ‘Well, what’s the big deal?’ The troop leader said, ‘It doesn’t matter how he looks; he has boy parts, he can’t be in Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts don’t allow that.’”

Reporters with 9News contacted  Girl Scouts of Colorado about Montoya’s application, which prompted the group to release a statement: “Our requests for support of transgender kids have grown, and Girl Scouts of Colorado is working to best support these children, their families and the volunteers who serve them. In this case, an associate delivering our program was not aware of our approach. She contacted her supervisor, who immediately began working with the family to get the child involved and supported in Girl Scouts. We are accelerating our support systems and training so that we’re better able to serve all girls, families and volunteers.”

Rachelle Trujillo, vice president of communications at Girl Scouts of Colorado, further clarified:  ”Girl Scouts is an inclusive organization, and we accept all girls in kindergarten through 12th grade as members. If a child lives life as a girl and the family brings the child to us to participate in Girl Scouts, Girl Scouts of Colorado welcomes her. Girl Scouts of Colorado respects the privacy of all girls and families we work with. When a family requests membership for their daughter, we do not require proof of gender, we respect the decisions of families.”

This bothers me.  BOY Scouts is meant for BOYS and GIRL Scouts is meant for GIRLS.  Maybe to resolve this issue, a 3rd Scouts group should be created:  Transgender Scouts of America.

Look.  A line needs to be drawn in the sand so this nonsense can stop.  I don’t care if little Bobby sees himself as more of a girl than a boy.  He has a PENIS.  That penis makes him a boy, excluding him from Boy Scouts.

Why does this bother me?  I could care less if a male with a penis identifies himself more as a female and feels HE has a right to urinate in a WOMAN’S restroom.  When my daughters are also using a woman’s restroom….NOBODY WITH A PENIS SHOULD BE ALLOWED IN A ROOM (or group) MEANT FOR WOMEN.
